Indivisible Newaygo County

As a non-partisan group dedicated to democracy, we know strengthening our rights, improving access to freedoms, and creating long-term positive change requires us to start at home. That's why we've been dedicated to serving Newaygo County and surrounding areas since our start.

Opposing Anti-Homeless and Anti-Free Speech Legislation

Indivisible Newaygo County stands with ACLU Michigan in condemning proposed MDOT legislation that would infringe upon the free speech rights of demonstrators and criminalize unhoused Michiganders.

A Conversation With Mike Voyt of True North

In November 2025, we welcomed Mike Voyt of True North to speak to us about the devastating consequences the "Big Beautiful Bill" has for SNAP. He shared the changes that will be implemented, many of which will place unnecessary burden on Newaygo County's struggling families. We learned that the majority of SNAP recipients are working adults and children, and that over 8,000 people in our area are food insecure. We appreciate Mike taking the time to educate and inspire us on how we can help our neighbors.

In October and November 2025, a group of volunteers went to Kaufman's Amish Farm to glean remaining produce from the fields. This food was donated to Benny's House and True North to support Newaygo County families struggling with hunger and shortages due to the government shutdown and SNAP funding freeze. Our Victory Garden initiative continues to be one of our most popular projects and we're currently gearing up for 2026. Please join us or donate!

Indivisible Labor Day Celebration

Supporting Our Migrant Farm Workers & Immigrants

In this time of unprecedented government overreach, troops on the streets being deployed against American citizens, and mass disappearances, we've continually raised our voices in support of migrant workers and immigrants of all backgrounds.

This summer, our 1st Annual Labor Day event featured speakers from the ACLU and Migrant Legal Aid, who spoke about the difficulties both documented and undocumented immigrants face in our nation. We learned about the tremendously hard work they do and why the addition of immigrants adds vibrancy, productivity, and economic stability to the country.

With this event, we were able to raise over $2,000 for Migrant Legal Aid. We also received many boxes of donations that were passed on to organizations that serve Newaygo County's migrant workers. We are very grateful to Elvira Hernandez and Florencia Colella for their impassioned, fact-filled speeches! We also appreciate George Heartwell for serving as our MC, and to Our Feathered Friends (band) for providing exciting and nostalgic music.

Saying NO KINGS & Protesting Dangerous Administration Policies

We refuse to be silent. We've been out in the streets drawing attention to harmful government policies that hurt Newaygo County residents. From foolish tariffs that have decimated crop prices for American farmers to slashing of social benefits working families and children rely on, this administration seems to be at war with ordinary Americans. Meanwhile, the president is everyday stampeding through our system of checks and balances, issuing decrees and sneering at our Constitution. We have continually raised our voices to say this isn't acceptable in the land of the free. We'll continue calling for leadership and representatives to hold the administration to the law and demand accountability for all actions taken.

Epstein Files

The current administration is playing games and protecting pedophiles in the process. From denying access to crucial information about notorious child abuser Jeffery Epstein and his contacts to demanding helicopters loudly patrol where assault victims are speaking, this administration has does everything in its power to harm survivors and stand arm-in-arm with victimizers.

We're not okay with that. We've taken to the streets to demand the full release of all Epstein "files", including the names and details of alleged perpetrators. We believe the victims and we know covering up child abuse does nothing to keep kids safe. As part of our efforts, we also collected clothes and toiletries for local domestic and sexual violence shelters and organizations. We continue to advocate for transparency and justice.

Saturdays in November we've been protesting to demand the complete transparency and release of all information related to the case. We believe the victims and continue to stand by them while urging swift justice for all traffickers, pedophiles, groomers, and others involved in the case.
